How to File a Complaint
Call our office at (845) 364-3901 or download, complete and forward a Complaint Form to cplcal@co.rockland.ny.us. You can also Contact Consumer Protection and visit us to file your complaint in person.
Consumer Complaints
The Rockland County Department of Consumer Protection is here to help resolve issues between consumers and businesses through a fair and transparent process. We review and mediate written complaints, working to reach solutions that are fair for both parties.
Before submitting a complaint, we strongly encourage you to contact the business directly to try and resolve the issue. Many disputes can be settled quickly with direct communication.
What We Do
- Investigate and mediate complaints against businesses we regulate
- Handle complaints against unlicensed contractors and businesses
- Refer complaints to the appropriate agency if they fall outside of our jurisdiction
Your Complaint Helps Us
- Enforce consumer protection laws
- Identify illegal, deceptive, or unfair business practices
- Monitor trends in the marketplace
Before You File
Please make sure your complaint:
- Is about a business or contractor
- Involves a transaction that took place in Rockland County or with a Rockland-based business
- Includes relevant documentation (receipts, contracts, communication records, photos, etc.)

To file a complaint, please complete our Consumer Complaint Form and include all supporting documents. The form can be submitted:
