The Rockland County Archives, under the direction of County Clerk Donna Silberman, was established in June 1987 in an effort to meet the growing need for records space in the county. The archives is responsible for developing and implementing policy and procedures related to retention and disposition of records, micro-graphics, filing and retrieval, vital records protection and security, system analysis, and historical document collection and preservation. They are also accountable for the maintenance and storage of active and inactive records generated by county departments.
The Archives Building is a state-of-the-art records storage facility located in Building S in the Pomona Health Complex. Construction of the 15,800 S.F. facility was completed in August of 1998. It houses over 33,000 cubic feet of records & meets all archival specifications related to temperature & humidity. It has a zoned sprinkler system for the records center & archive vault. A comprehensive disaster recovery is in place in the event of a disaster or emergency.
Welcome to the Archives website where you will find helpful information about our modern day operations. A commitment to the protection and preservation of vital records has and continues to be our mission. In addition to being the storage facility for county government, our various collections span the history of Rockland County from its establishment in 1798 to the present day. Our staff is readily available to assist in your research or retrieval needs.
