Rockland County Launches Envision Rockland website for Comprehensive Plan Update

New City, NY – Rockland County Executive Ed Day is pleased to announce the launch of www.envisionrockland.com, a website dedicated to the Countywide Comprehensive Plan update. A comprehensive plan is a long-term, strategic document that outlines a county's vision and priorities for land use, zoning, development, and growth, serving as a guide for decision-making on issues like infrastructure, housing, and economic development.

The website is part of a community engagement strategy to create a publicly supported vision and plan, enabling residents to:

  • Sign up for email updates
  • Provide feedback
  • Stay up to date on the planning process, project meetings & announcements
  • Receive updates on workshop information
  • Access links to surveys
  • Access draft plan content

Other engagement strategies will include public workshops, stakeholder meetings, online interactive visioning survey, including an “Ideas Wall” and “Interactive Map,” and more. Additionally, project team members will attend various events throughout the County to alert people about the comprehensive plan process and opportunities to get involved

To enhance public participation, a 19-member citizen advisory committee has also been established to provide advice on the projects Community Outreach and Engagement Strategy, the Plan’s Vision and Goals, as well as to assist in promoting broad public engagement and representation throughout the process.

The citizen advisory committee will be referred to as the ‘Envision Rockland Community Advisory Working Group.’

The plan’s development will be overseen by the County Planning Department and guided by a Technical Advisory Committee (TAC) as well as the Community Advisory Working Group, ensuring both technical expertise and community input shape this critical plan.

"Community involvement is the foundation of a strong and forward-thinking comprehensive plan," said County Executive Ed Day. "The input of our residents is invaluable in shaping Rockland’s future and ensuring that our policies reflect the needs and priorities of the people who live and work here. I encourage everyone to take an active role in this process—whether through the website, public workshops, or community meetings—so that together, we can create a vision that benefits generations to come."

The project will be conducted over the next 18 months in conjunction with the primary consultant team of BFJ Planning (Buckhurst, Fish and Jacquemart, Inc.) of New York, NY, along with Urbanomics of New York, NY, Arch Street Communications of Tarrytown, NY, and McLaren Engineering of Woodcliff Lake, NJ (formerly of West Nyack, NY).
