County Executive Day Proclaims March as Women’s History Month

LiveOnNY Receives Honorary Proclamation

New City, NY – County Executive Ed Day has proudly proclaimed March 2025 as Women’s History Month in Rockland. This annual observance honors the achievements of women throughout history and recognizes their significant contributions to society, culture, and the advancement of our community.

To honor this occasion, County Executive Day presented a proclamation to LiveOnNY, a federally designated Organ Procurement Organization for the New York Metropolitan area, in recognition of their efforts to educate, advocate, and save lives through organ donation.

LiveOnNY has been instrumental in spreading awareness about the importance of organ donation, providing hope to those in need, and honoring the generosity of donors, many of whom are women making life-saving decisions for others. We recognize those who contribute to the life-saving mission of organ donation and inspire hope for a brighter and more inclusive future.

This year’s theme of Women’s History Month, “Moving Forward Together! Women Educating & Inspiring Generations,” highlights the vital role women have played as educators, mentors, and leaders throughout history.

“Women’s History Month is a time to celebrate the extraordinary accomplishments of women who have shaped our society, broken barriers, and paved the way for future generations,” said County Executive Ed Day. “In Rockland County, we are proud to recognize the trailblazing women in our community, including those from LiveOnNY, for their invaluable contributions, and for supporting initiatives that save lives and foster hope.”

Community & Government Affairs Liaison Lauren Shields and Volunteer & Organ Donation Champion Roxanne Watson, both with LiveOnNY, accepted the proclamation on behalf of the organization. “It’s an honor to work and volunteer with LiveOnNY. Each and every day we honor our donor’s legacy by sharing our stories as recipients and living life to the fullest!”

Throughout the month of March, Rockland County encourages residents to reflect on the invaluable contributions of women in all fields, from education, science, and technology to business, politics, and the arts. This proclamation also serves as a reminder of the ongoing challenges women face and reaffirms Rockland County’s commitment to promoting equality and creating opportunities for all.

The County Executive invites residents to join in celebrating Women’s History Month by participating in local events, supporting women-owned businesses, and learning more about the inspiring stories of women in our community and beyond.
