County Mourns Lives Lost in Tragic American Airlines and Black Hawk Helicopter Collision
Statement by County Executive Day
"We are deeply saddened by the tragic collision between American Airlines Flight 5342 and a U.S. Army Black Hawk helicopter near Washington, D.C., on January 29, 2025.
It’s reported that there were 64 individuals on the flight and three soldiers aboard the helicopter.
As per existing protocol, county flags will be lowered to half-staff to honor the victims. My administration extends our deepest condolences to all those affected during this difficult time."
