County Executive Ed Day Announces Staffing Change

New City, NY - County Executive Ed Day is proud to announce Ivett Nuñez Arias has been appointed as a new Director of Community Relations taking on the position vacated by Jenna Nazario when she was named the Director of Economic Development and Tourism in 2024. Arias accepts the role following her position as a Senior Program Review Assistant within the Youth Bureau, which comprised a multitude of duties including managing service contracts and helping organizations navigate grant opportunities.

The Community Relations Director acts as a liaison to not-for-profit agencies and organizations that provide services to Rockland County residents. Their responsibilities include responding to community inquiries, resolving issues, and assisting individuals in accessing County government resources and services.

"I am proud to announce Ivett Nuñez Arias will join our Community Relations efforts working closely with our longtime Director of Community Relations Myrnia Bass-Hargrove to continue strengthening the relationship between County government and our residents. I am confident that her experience and qualifications, and recent graduation from our County Emerging Leaders Program, will help her excel in this role and drive Rockland forward," said County Executive Ed Day.

The Director also gathers and analyzes information on community issues, collaborates with County Departments to address concerns, and ensures effective internal support for community services. Additionally, they meet with community leaders to address local concerns, enhance programs, and develop solutions to improve services. This role is essential in strengthening the relationship between County government and the community by addressing concerns, supporting residents, and ensuring the delivery of critical services.

“I am excited about the opportunity this role offers to support and foster positive relationships with the public, County Departments, and community organizations,” said Director Nuñez Arias. “I am eager to bring my communication and problem-solving skills to this position and help grow the effectiveness of services provided to Rockland County’s residents.”

The Community Relations Director position pays $106,000 annually.

“Ivett is an excellent addition to our team, and I am confident she will help guide this administration down the right path,” concluded County Executive Day.
