Juan Pablo Mobili Named Rockland County Poet Laureate

New City, NY - Rockland County Executive Ed Day and the Arts Council of Rockland (ACOR) are proud to announce the selection of Juan Pablo Mobili as the Rockland County Poet Laureate for the 2025-2026 term.
As Poet Laureate, Juan will serve as an ambassador for the literary arts, engaging audiences throughout Rockland County and beyond through public readings, civic events, and educational activities.
“Juan Pablo Mobili’s contributions to the arts and his deep connection to Rockland make him an outstanding choice as our Poet Laureate,” said County Executive Ed Day. “Through his work, he will inspire our community to celebrate the arts and culture that make this County such a unique and wonderful place to live.”
Born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, Juan has lived in New York since 1978 and in Rockland County since 1988. His mother, a school principal, and his father, a poet and public servant, instilled in him a deep appreciation for language’s power to foster self-discovery and compassion, as well as the importance of being an engaged member of any community a person is a part of.
“Language is the foundation of authentic dialogue, and poetry is one of the most profound uses of language,” said Juan Pablo Mobili. “Poetry is a powerful way to express ourselves, connect deeply with others, and explore the beauty and complexity of life. I am honored to serve as Rockland County’s Poet Laureate and look forward to celebrating the power of words with our community.”
Beyond his literary accomplishments, Juan has had a remarkable career as a consultant working with global organizations across 38 countries including companies such as The Lego Group, Nike, Disney, and the Pan-American Health Organization. His work as an executive coach with prestigious programs at Wharton and Harvard Business School further highlights his dedication to inspiring and empowering others.
“We are thrilled to name Juan Pablo Mobili as Rockland County’s Poet Laureate,” said Dorothy Atzl, ACOR Executive Director. “His poetry, leadership, and community engagement embody the spirit of what this program needs to transform the literary arts community here in our County.”
The County of Rockland encourages the County to join Juan at his first poetry reading titled “Echoes of the Heart: Life’s Joys & Sorrows,” on February 20th from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. at the Valley Cottage Library. Enjoy a brief poem by Juan Pablo Mobili here: https://youtu.be/QLZDFuww6vQ
