County Burn Ban Expiring
New York State burn ban In Effect until November 30th
New City, NY – Rockland County Executive Ed Day & Office of Fire & Emergency Services Director Chris Kear announce that the temporary burn ban enacted due to dry conditions will expire this week, thanks to the recent rainfall that has alleviated the fire risk.
“Thanks to the much-needed rain, conditions have improved enough to allow our burn ban to expire,” said County Executive Ed Day.
The decision to let the burn ban expire comes after consultation with our County Office of Fire & Emergency Services confirmed that recent precipitation has reduced fire danger levels. Still, Rockland County Fire & Emergency Services Director Chris Kear reminds residents that the New York State burn ban is still in effect until November 30th.
“The state burn ban prohibits outdoor fires for brush and debris disposal, as well as uncontained campfires, and open fires used for cooking,” explained Kear.
