Job Description

The South Orangetown Central School District is seeking a candidate to work in their fast-paced Custodial/Facilities Department. The work is routine in nature, focusing on the maintenance and cleanliness of the district's facilities.

This position involves the cleaning of the interior of buildings and related building fixtures and equipment, and may also involve cleaning of building exteriors and grounds.

The work is performed under the direct supervision of a designated supervisor or in accordance with a specific schedule.

Minimum Qualifications:

• No formal education, training, or experience is required.
• Must possess a valid Driver’s License.
• Working knowledge of cleaning methods, materials, and equipment; ability to understand and follow simple oral and written directions; ability to read and communicate in English.

Other Requirements and Information:

The selected applicant will be subject to a fingerprint-supported criminal history background check in accordance with SAVE Legislation effective July 1, 2001.

Salary and Benefits:

Salary and benefits are competitive with the public sector market including but not limited to the following:

• $44,185 - $55,747 Annual Salary (as of June 16, 2026)
