The South Orangetown Central School District is seeking a candidate to work in their fast-paced Facilities Department. The work is specialized, diverse, and can be complex in nature.

The Groundskeeper I lays out, directs, and performs the maintenance of ballfields, track and field courses, skating and hockey rinks, and other recreational facilities, in addition to other assigned tasks.

The work is performed under the general supervision of a higher-level supervisor or administrator

Minimum Qualifications:

● Three (3) years of experience in the care and maintenance of grounds.
● High school vocational or post high school education appropriate to the care and maintenance of grounds (including landscaping, turf management, floriculture, horticulture, gardening, natural resource conservation, agriculture, or forestry) may be substituted for up to two (2) years of experience on a year-for-year basis.
● Ability to lift 50 pounds.

Other Requirements and Information:

• CERTIFICATION: Applicant expected to obtain CPO (Certified Pool Operator) certification
• Availability: immediately

Salary and Benefits:

Salary and benefits are competitive with the public sector market including but not limited to the following:

• $63,859 - $84,647 – commensurate with experience
• Health, Dental, Vision, Disability insurance
• vacation, personal and holiday time
• NYS Pension eligible
