This workshop is based on sessions 1 and 2. This workshop addresses conceptualization, phenomenology, cognitive model, and CBT spectrum approaches to understanding, assessing and treating non-suicidal self-injury (NSSI) as well as suicidal behavior (SIB) in youth. The theoretical bases for conceptualizing NSSI and SIB are fully elaborated. Implicit and explicit assessment methods are explained. Safety planning is emphasized. Various procedures for minimizing acute risk as well as relapse are described.
